Functional Testing
Functional testing provides objective and reliable information about an employee’s current functional capacity related to the physical demands of work. Functional testing may be requested by an employer, attorney, vocational expert, or insurance adjuster when there is a question about the employee’s ability to safely perform job demands. Functional testing is often requested to answer the following questions:
- Can the employee safely perform the essential job functions?
- What job modifications or accommodations may assist the employee to safely perform the job?
