Barbara Tourtellott, OTR/L, CVE, CEA
President, Certified Ergonomic Specialist

Barbara Tourtellott is an expert in occupational ergonomics, assistive technology and disability management with over 30 years experience.  She is a licensed occupational therapist, certified vocational evaluator, and holds her associate certificate in ergonomics from the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics.   Barbara has taught both introductory and advanced ergonomics at San Diego State University through the Occupational Health and Safety Certificate Program and provides consultation services to private and public sector organizations throughout San Diego, Orange and Riverside Counties. 

Prior to starting Fit to Work, Barbara worked in various positions in physical rehabilitation, including 23 years at a large healthcare organization in San Diego where she held various positions including Manager of Occupational Health.  She developed and provided a full spectrum of industrial rehabilitation services including functional capacity evaluations, job analysis, medical-legal consultation, work hardening and ADA consultation.  She also developed and managed the in-house ergonomic program for her 1,000 employee division.  In 2006 Barbara left her corporate job to form Fit To Work, Inc. with a vision of providing responsive, customized services to assist individuals in preventing injury or managing disability with a proper “fit to work”.

Barbara enjoys teaching and has been a trainer to other professionals across the nation on topics including ADA job accommodation, functional screening exams, functional capacity evaluation, ergonomics, and industrial consultation skills.  She has co-authored book chapters on industrial rehabilitation topics and a book on job accommodation.   


Laura Baden, MS, CVE, CRC
Ergonomic Consultant 

Laura has her Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from San Diego State University.  She is also a Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist (CVE) and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC)She has been an adjunct faculty member at San Diego State University for a graduate course on assessment methods, test administration, interpretation and reporting, job analysis, and vocational research methods.  She is also an experienced trainer, having conducted professional presentations on job analysis, physical capacity evaluation, vocational/career assessment, computerized assessment systems, and pre-employment screening. Laura has extensive experience working with individuals with disabilities returning to the workplace including workers’ compensation recipients, personal injury clients, and student populations.  She currently provides office and laboratory ergonomic assessments for Fit to Work, Inc.
